WHAT WILL BE THE GOOGLE’S RESPONSE TO ChatGPT?

For many years, we have been solely dependent on google to execute an assortment of advanced functions, including the capacity to understand and translate spoken and written languages, analyze the data, and many more in both personal and professional lives.

Recently, we have been taking notice of news about ChatGPT which has been deemed a competitor of Google.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is the latest chatbot launched in November 2022. It was established as a prototype, that quickly gained attention of the Netizens throughout the world because of its intricate responses and eloquent answers across many domains of knowledge.

It takes queries and answers with flabbergasted conversational replies. It has shared recipes, reviewed code, and argued politics so adeptly that screenshots of its answers now, fill social medias. However, this was the future Google pledged. But now someone else is fulfilling it.

How is Google reacting to it?… Let’s dive right into it.

Google missing this opportunity cannot be simply a matter of a blind spot. It is being supposedly cautious about its business, prestige, and customer relationships that it refused to release similar, more powerful tech.

“Google thinks a lot about how something can damage its reputation,” said Gaurav Nemade, a former Google product manager who was the first person to help in LaMDA chatbot project. “They lean on the side of conservatism.”

Google’s investment in AI ➔ LaMDA

LaMDA stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, is a family of conversational developed by Google. In June 2022, LaMDA gained widespread attention when Google’s Blake Lemoine made claims that it had become “sentient”.

➔ APPRENTICE BARD

Google is also testing a chatbot called “Apprentice Bard,” where employees can ask questions and receive thorough answers similar to ChatGPT. Staff claims that,”Apprentice Bard” is built on the company’s LaMDA technology and it should be better than ChatGPT in some ways.

Google’s AI chief, Jeff Dean, informed employees at the time that the company has much more “reputational risk” in providing wrong information and thus is moving “more conservatively than a small startup.” However, he and CEO Sundar Pichai teased at the time that Google may launch similar products to the public sometime this year. Google’s prime business is web search, and the company has long lauded itself as a pioneer in AI.

Google’s AI showcase

Google plans to hold an event on the 8th of February, 2023 where it will demonstrate how it is “using the power of AI to reimagine how people search for, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever before to find what you need.” the context allows LaMDA to keep up with the flow of conversation and provide the feeling.

This quality of its comprehending that it’s listening and responding precisely to what is being said.

Google now plans to reveal more than 20 new products and demonstrate a version of its search engine with a chatbot feature this year, according to the New York Times. Reviewed plans for many of these products are anticipated to debut at the company’s conference in May. This could comprise Image Generation Studio, which creates and edits images and a third version of AI Test Kitchen, which is a practical app for testing product prototypes.

Some of the other projects the company is working on containing a feature called Shopping Try-on, a YouTube green-screen feature that allows video creators to create backgrounds, a wallpaper maker for the Pixel smartphone and a tool that could summarise videos by developing new ones.
